• Has Very Low Blood Pressure (Hypotension): This medication is a vasodilator and will further lower blood pressure, potentially causing fainting or shock.

• Has Severe Anemia: Nitroglycerin can worsen oxygen deficiency.

• Has Liver or Kidney Problems: Caution is needed, as these organs are vital for metabolizing and eliminating the drug.

• Has History of Stroke or Head Injury: The drug can increase pressure in the head (intracranial pressure).

How to Use

Guidelines for Effectiveness

• Timing: To prevent tolerance (where the drug stops working), doctors often recommend a nitrate-free interval each day. For example, if you take one dose daily, you might take it in the morning and skip the evening dose, allowing 8-10 hours without the drug. Follow your doctor’s specific instructions.

• Administration: Swallow the capsule whole with water. Do not chew, crush, or dissolve the capsule, as this will destroy the Timed-Release mechanism and release too much drug at once. It can be taken with or without food.
